The Akita starts as this adorable puppy.................and can grow into this 130 pound monster.

Before you buy....

1.    Read about Akitas in general, using this links page,  or this link to AMAZON.  Search books under AKITAS.

2.    Read this temperament article, and keep in mind the following:

        a.    Akitas are territorial.  Dogs straying into your yard may be killed.  The unrestrained Akita could easily kill a neighbor's dog, especially if it is the same sex or challenges your Akita.

        b.    Akitas are dominant.  You will need to keep your Akita away from other dogs in your family who are of the same sex.  Your other dog could be killed if it challenges the Akita.  For the most part, the adult Akitas ignore our cat.

3.    Akitas a subject to a number of genetic diseases.  Hip dysplasia is the most common.  My Akitas are guaranteed at age 24 months to be free of these diseases, or a replacement will be provided upon proof of neutering.

4.     My Akitas might cost more than those in the local pet store, but mine come with the guarantee.  The pedigrees are known and the stock is healthy.  Also, by charging a reasonable price for the dogs, I increase the probabilities they are purchased by people who will care for them and not mistreat them or lose them.

5.    Read our contract for pet/companion dogs.
