Elements and Their Properties

        

Text: pages 298-325. 3 day unit.

Objectives

After completing this section, students will:

1.    be able to list the properties of a typical metal,

2.    be able to compare and contrast alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, and 3 groups of transition metals,

3.    be able to list the properties of a halogen and a noble gas,

4.    be able to compute the gram formula weight for a compound.

Activities

1.    Fun with liquid nitrogen.

2.    A web research worksheet.

3.    Creating an entry for a web-based periodic table.  Here is a sample.
