Conceptual Text:  595-644.  10 day unit.

Objectives

After completing this section, successful students will:

1.    be able to compare and contrast radioactive elements and stable elements,

2.    be able to compare and contrast alpha, beta and gamma radiation,

3.    be able compare and contrast nuclear fission and nuclear fusion,

4.    be able to explain the use of nuclear power to produce electricity,

5.    be able to explain the use of nuclear materials in medicine,

6.    be able to explain the problems of nuclear waste disposal,

7.    be able to perform decay computations using the half life of a radioactive material.
