Text: pages 255-265. 3 day unit. Objectives After completing this section, students will: 1. be able to quickly locate an element on the periodic chart, 2. be able to distinguish between a group and a period, 3. be able to use the periodic table to classify an element as metal, nonmetal or metalloid, 4. be able to determine the number of electrons in the highest energy level using the periodic table, 5. be able to compute the mass of a mole of an element in grams.
