The Classroom Rules The basic rule is simple. Treat people as you yourself would want to be treated. This means you do not infringe on other students rights to learn. This means do not create class disruptions. If you are not interested, then sit quietly. There are times to raise your hand before you talk, other times when it is not necessary. If in doubt, keep in mind rule 1 above. Don't interrupt. Let's start the class promptly. This means being in your seat at the starting time. This means having the materials needed that day ready and with you. This means taking care of bodily functions prior to class. Occasionally, if we are ALL ORGANIZED, we will be able to finish the lesson early. If such be the case, quiet socializing is a valid use of any remaining time. You might also use it to do additional work for this class or another class, but that is your choice. And you have a student handbook with school rules. Obviously I have to enforce these as well. It is my hope that I do not have to. Specific Rules are listed on the board, and on your syllabus, and are: 1.
Be in your seats, with all needed
materials, working on the daily assignment located on the board or projection
screen, when the bell rings. If you are late without permission, go to
V-16. If you are not passing class, don't bother asking permission to be
late. 2.
Raise your hand for permission to talk,
unless in group work. In group
work, talk only to the students in your group.
Do not scream across the room, or you will be sent to V-16. 3.
Raise hand for permission to get out of
seat. If you are out of your seat
without permission, you will be sent to V-16. 4.
Stay in seats until the bell rings.
Do not move toward the door, or you will be sent to V-16 the following
day. 5.
No passes out of room without your
planner, and only if all work is caught up, you have a passing grade in the
class and behavior merits this PRIVILEGE. |
